Boost your sleep on cooler nights

Equipping your bed with an adequate quilt or blanket as the seasons change is crucial for overall comfort, sleep quality, and health. As your body prepares to fall asleep, your internal core temperature begins to drop. This coincides with the production and release of melatonin, which not only facilitates the onset of sleep, but is a key player in keeping you asleep. Ensuring your bed has the right cherry-on-top (that’s not too warm or cool) will get you the highest sleep score on your tracker. Alright, Goldilocks, let’s check out your options:

Pure Australian Wool Blankets & Quilts

As wool fibres are naturally crimped, they trap pockets of air that act as insulation - keeping your warmth close to your body in colder conditions. On warmer nights, the same air pockets insulate against the external heat, maintaining a cooler feel.

Also naturally moisture-wicking, wool is able to absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp. By absorbing perspiration from the body and releasing it into the air, wool helps to keep the skin dry and comfortable, preventing overheating during sleep.

The hypoallergenic nature of wool makes these quilts ideal for those with allergies, as they naturally resist dust mites, mould, and bacteria.

Durable and resilient, Australian wool quilts maintain their loft and shape over time, providing long-lasting quality and comfort. Wool is a sustainable resource, and choosing wool products supports eco-friendly practices and reduces environmental impact.

As an extra benefit, the natural fire resistance of wool adds an extra layer of safety to your sleeping environment.

Plant-Based Blankets & Quilts

Tencel Eucalyptus

Tencel is made from sustainably sourced eucalyptus wood using a process that recycles almost all water and solvents. The material itself is wonderfully soft and luxurious, enhancing comfort for a restful night’s sleep.

Tencel also excels in moisture management, drawing away sweat to keep you dry and comfortable throughout the night. It’s hypoallergenic and resists bacterial growth, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin or allergies.

Its breathability also helps regulate body temperature, ensuring you stay cool in summer and warm in winter. Another perfect option for year-round comfort.

 Organic Cotton

Completely free of toxic chemicals inside and out, cotton is an excellent option. Cotton is ideal for those who prefer a slightly cooler sleeping environment as it does not insulate, allowing air to circulate through the fabric.

Cotton quilts are also relatively easy to care for compared to others. They can typically be machine washed and dried, which simplifies the cleaning process. Cotton's ability to handle moisture without deteriorating also means that these quilts often come out of the wash looking fresh and clean without special treatment.

Cotton fibres are naturally strong, and quilts made from cotton are known for their durability. They can withstand frequent washing and regular use without significant wear and tear. This resilience makes cotton quilts a practical choice for daily use, especially in households with children or pets.

Ingeo

What’s that? Good question. Ingeo is the ultimate plant-based fabric made from sources like sugar cane, corn, and beet, making this quilt not just eco-friendly but 100% biodegradable.

Another moisture management master, Ingeo ensures a dry and comfortable sleep while maintaining stable body temperature.

Similar to our other options, Ingeo is a durable, lightweight and hypoallergenic fibre. However, these fibres do not absorb moisture as deeply, allowing them to dry more quickly when exposed to air - making the Ingeo quilts more convenient for washing and drying.

Feather & Duck Down Quilts

Duck down quilts provide superior insulation while being incredibly lightweight. This means you get the warmth you need during colder nights without the heaviness of traditional blankets, ensuring a cozy sleep without feeling weighed down.

Duck down quilts offer a high level of loft, which refers to the fluffiness of the down that helps trap heat efficiently. This loft not only insulates but also adds to its aesthetic appeal, making your bed look plush, ultra comfortable, and cloud-like.

This loft also allows air to circulate effectively, which does all the good things; temperature regulation, moisture-wicking, and warming without overheating.

When properly cared for, duck down quilts can last for many years, even decades. Down's natural resilience allows it to retain its shape and loft over time, offering long-term comfort and making it a cost-effective choice in the long run.

Lastly, to address the elephant (or large duck) in the room… we are committed to animal welfare. The fill used is a byproduct of the food industry. 100% ensured ethical practices and that all animals are treated humanely. We stand strictly against live plucking. As the fill is a responsibly sourced byproduct, these quilts also support the recycling of natural resources.

Alpaca Quilts

As well as their impressive spitting ability (can target up to 10 feet away!), Alpacas have quite remarkable wool. Naturally almost completely waterproof due to the wool fibre structure, Alpaca quilts resist mould and mildew growth.

Alpaca wool is hollow, which provides top-notch heat retention while maintaining an incredibly lightweight. It also requires no chemical processing at any stage of production, resulting in a perfect hypo-allergenic and eco-friendly option.

Ensuring our long-necked friends (from more than 10 feet away) are never uncomfortable, their curly locks are gently shorn only once a year - in time for those warmer months. They are also gentle on pastures as they have soft pads instead of hooves that damage the terrain, and they consume less water and food per pound of fibre produced than goats and sheep. This makes alpaca quilts a sustainable choice for eco-conscious consumers.
